I.R.L. Art Exhibit by Austin Reavis
Wednesday, October 19, 8 pm
at Cowan Center for the Arts Training Center, 2nd floor
Born in 87 in Nashville, Tennessee, Austin Reavis is a recent graduate in sculpture at the Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis. Austin currently lives in Sewanee, where he works as sous chef at the fine dining restaurant Ivywild, and spends his off time building a small house and making art.
Online, the acronym "I.R.L" stands for "in real life", with the meaning "not on the Internet." The exhibition I.R.L is a counterpoint to the idea of "real life" as a place of pure evidence. Through the means of sculpture and photography, Austin builds conceit within found settings and places that undermines a face-value understanding of reality.
