July 27, 4:00 pm  History Lecture
"Tractor Seat in the Cemetery - the life of Old Bill Brakefield"

Jarod Pearson will talk about William Brakefield, a legendary Cowan resident and railroader whose quirky personality is remembered to this day.  The lecture will also tell the beautiful story of why there's a tractor seat beside a grave in the Cowan Montgomery Cemetery.  The lecture is free and refreshments are served.  This year's lecture series, "Characters of the County", is provided in partnership with the Franklin County Historical Society.
