The Cowan Pusher District: "When Push Comes to Shove"

Sunday, October 28, 4:00 p.m. at Cowan Center for the Arts Training Center
Speaker: Tom Knowles

Tom Knowles, manager of Cowan Railroad museum, will provide a lecture on the Cowan Pusher District, a 160-year old railroad operation in Cowan involving extra locomotives that help trains conquer the steep Cumberland Mountain grade. In spite of all the technological advances in American railroading, the Cowan Pusher District connects the early industrial age with modern-day railroading. When push comes to shove, the Cowan Pusher District keeps heavy trains in motion.

The Cowan Pusher District lecture is part of the ongoing lecture series at Cowan Center for the Arts.
