Lon Eldridge & Ed Huey

March 26, Saturday, 7 pm

Tickets $5.00

Lon Eldridge

Lon Eldridge was raised in the small town of Spring City in East Tennessee. Growing up, he was always surrounded by family members who loved and played music. At age 13, he picked up the guitar for the first time. Ever since then he has crafted his music into his own unique blend of raw Delta blues, driving bluegrass, Gospel, ragtime, and mellow jazz (to name a few). Now age 23, Lon sings with a powerful, moving voice and plays more than ten different instruments (specializing in guitar and slide guitar), giving him a musical diversity that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Lon has shared the stage with musical greats such as The Lovell Sisters, Mike Farris, David Crowder Band, The Mueller Family, Dan Landrum, Butch Ross and many more…

"This guy is Chattanooga's best kept secret." -Christie Burns, Folk School of Chattanooga

Lon will host a workshop for Slide Guitar on Saturday, March 26 at 4 pm, at the Cowan Artisan, 214 East Cumberland St in Cowan.  The workshop is geared for intermediate guitar players.

Fee is $20 and includes admission to the concert at 7 pm.

Ed Huey

Ed Huey plays guitar, slide guitar, harmonica, mandolin and sings. He plays in Piedmont, Delta, Texas, Hokum and prewar harmonica styles.  His blues roots reach back to hearing workers sing in the cotton fields across the road from his grandmother's house in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Ed met delta bluesman Son Thomas, who served as an artist in residence in Ed's music classes. Son gave Ed his first slide guitar lesson. After that, Ed was hooked.
A few years later, Ed watched a powerful performance by acoustic blues legend John Hammond. One artist, one guitar, one harmonica. John had them dancing in the street! Ed thought, "I can do that!"

Ed will host a Beginner's Harmonica Workshop on Saturday, March 26, at 4:00 pm at the Cowan Center for the Arts Theater.  Fee of $20 includes admission to the 7 pm concert.
