JANUARY 30, Sunday, 4:00 PM
“The History of Cowan Churches” speaker Jarod Pearson
Our first lecture of 2011 will focus on the growth and development of early churches in the Cowan community, from Goshen Church, founded in 1810 through the First Nazarene Church, organized in 1917.  The lecture will have special emphasis on churches that no longer exist, particularly two churches that closed and disbanded during the Civil War.

Civil War expert Jack Hurst, author of "Men of Fire: Grant, Forrest, and the Campaign That Decided the Civil War" and Nathan Bedford Forrest: A Biography

Steve Pearson will be talking about the Montgomery Family of Cowan.  The Hugh Montgomery family was among the first to relocate to Franklin County.

May 29, Sunday, 4 pm
Dr. Bradley will discuss “Mysteries and Myths of the Civil War”, his just released book.  In his lecture Dr. Bradley will discuss how true stories from the war-era have become distorted with time and retelling so that, instead of informing us about history, they create mysteries and myths.  More info

June 26, Sunday, 4 pm
Tom McGee will speak on Book Collecting.  This lecture will focus on interesting and amusing anecdotes about American book collectors from Thomas Jefferson to Stephen Blumberg.  He will also be available for Book Appraisals.  More info

July 10, Sunday, 4 pm
Author Mark Eden will discuss Animation Writing.  An insider’s look at how and why TV shows and movies get made.  More Info
